6th Committee Meeting cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
23rd City of Leeds New Year B Grade 2010 Gala. Nicole Baxter (10) finished 3rd in 50m Freestyle. She also finished 19th in 200m Individual Medley, 26th in 50m Backstroke and 34th in 50m Breaststroke. Morgan Hartley (13) finished 6th in 50m Breaststroke, 8th in 100m Butterfly, 11th in 50m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke, 13th in 50m Butterfly and 18th in 200m Individual Medley and 100m Freestyle. Stephanie Brooks (11) finished 44th in 50m Butterfly, 54th in 50m Freestyle and 57th in 200m Individual Medley. Jack Coyne (12) finished 9th in 100m Freestyle, 22nd in 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly, and 25th in 50m Breaststroke.
23rd North Lancs Age Groups Gala One. Abbie Hampshire (9) set new personal best times for ALL of here swims as she finished 2nd in 200m Freestyle, 6th in 50m Freestyle and 100m Individual Medley, and 10th in 400m Freestyle. Samantha Titterton (11) finished 10th in 400m Freestyle which was in a new personal best time. In the 100m Backstroke she was 14th and then finished 17th in 200m Freestyle.
24th North Lancs Age Groups Gala Two. Samantha Titterton (11) finished 1st in 200m Breaststroke achieving a new personal best and a North West Region Qualifying Time. She also finished 6th in 100m Butterfly. Morgan Hartley (13) made the dash over the Pennines to finish 7th in 200m Freestyle and 8th in 100m Freestyle with the later being set in a new personal best time.

6th North Lancs Age Groups Gala Three. Samantha Titterton (11) achieved the best result with a first place in the 100m Breaststroke. This was followed up with 6th in 200m Individual Medley with both swims done in personal best times. Morgan Hartley (13) achieved a third place finish in the 400m Freestyle and a 6th place in the 200m Individual Medley both in personal best times. Abbie Hampshire (9) finsihed 5th place in 50m Butterfly in a new personal best time.
7th North Lancs Age Groups Gala Four. Abbie Hampshire (9) achieved a second place in 50m Backstroke setting a new personal best time. Samantha Titterton (11) finished 7th in 200m Backstroke and 13th in 100m Freestyle both in personal best times.

March 2010

Date Event
6th Colne were hosts to Blackpool Aquatics 'B', Leyland 'B' and Carnforth 'B' in the first Micro League Fixture of the season. Despite winning several events Colne could not match the pace set by Blackpool Aquatics as they won the gala with 144 points. Unfortunately Colne could not quite catch Leyland for 2nd place even though half way through the gala Colne were over 10 points adrift. Colne finished 3rd on 113 points with Leyland in 2nd on 116 points. Trailing in 4th place were Carnforth who finished with 83 points.
22nd Colne lose away to Burnley in the first Friendly League ficture of the season. Burnley finished with 67 points to Colne's 51.
28th Colne travelled to Blackpool for a Micro League fixture against Blackpool Aquatics 'C', Leyland 'B' and Garston. Desipte several swimmers setting new personal bests times, Colne could only finish 3rd with 99 points. League newcomers Garston won with a huge 163 points from Leyland 'B' on 139 points. Hosts Blackpool Aquatics 'C' trailled a distant 4th on 80 points.
28th The Colne Masters Team travelled to Darlington to compete in the Darlington Dolphin Masters, which was their first competition of the year. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 200m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 100m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke, is 2nd in 50m Backstroke and 3rd in 50m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 50m and 100m Freestyle, and is 3rd in 50m Butterfly. John Penswick (70-74) wins 50m Freestyle and is 2nd in 100m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke and 50m Breaststroke. Tony Catterall (60-64) finishes 2nd in 200m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke, and 3rd in 100m Freestyle and 100m Individual Medley. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 2nd in 100m Backstroke and 3rd in 50m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle, with the 100m Backstroke being set in a new personl best time.

23rd Scottish National Masters Championships at Tollcross Leisure Centre, Glasgow. Tony Catterall (60-64) wins 800m Freestyle, 400m Individual Medley and 100m Individual Medley. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 800m Freestyle and is 3rd in 100m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) is 2nd in 400m Individual Medley and 6th in 100m Individual Medley.
24th Scottish National Masters Championships at Tollcross Leisure Centre, Glasgow. Tony Catterall (60-64) wins 200m Individual Medley, 200m Freestyle and 400m Freestyle. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 200m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke and is 2nd in 400m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) is 2nd in 50m Breaststroke, 3rd in 400m Freestyle and 4th in 200m Individual Medley and 100m Butterfly.
26th We travelled to Haslingden for our latest fixture in the Friendly League fixture. In what proved to be en exciting contest, we edged out the hosts by 61 points to 59. There were several personal bests set by the jubilant Colne swimmers.

16th The Lancashire County Masters Championships were held at the Palatine Leisure Centre Blackpool where Laura Foulkes (18-24) wins 200m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle events. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 200m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, 100m Freestyle, 50m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke events. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 50m and 100m Freestyle events. Philip Croxall (40-44) wins 200m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke events. He is 2nd in 50m Backstroke, 100m Individual Medley, 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle. John Penswick (70-74) wins 50m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke and 100m Breaststroke events. He is 2nd in 50m Freestyle.
20th Colne lose at home to Haslingden in the Friendly League. Despite the girls setting 22 personal bests and the boys setting 23, we were beaten by 67 points to 53.
29th The Gateshead Masters were held at the Felling Pool for the last time before being pulled down. Tony Catterall (60-64) won 400m Freestyle, 200m Breaststroke, 100m Freestyle, 200m Butterfly, 400m Individual Medley, 200m Freestyle, 100m Individual Medley and 200m Backstroke. Karen Driver (35-39) won 400m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, 200m Freestyle and 50m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) won 50m Freestyle. Is 2nd in 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly and 3rd in 50m Breaststroke. Philip Croxall (40-44) won 400m Individual Medley taking 6 seconds of his personal best. Is 2nd in 100m Breaststroke and 5th in 100m Freestyle.

6th At the Jorvik Graded Meet 2010 held at the Ennerdale Leisure Centre in Hull. Morgan Hartley (13) was 1st in 50m Breaststroke, 2nd in 100m Individual Medley, 3rd in 50m Butterfly, 4th in 200m Freestyle and 5th in 50m Freestyle and 50 Backstroke, setting new personal best times for all his swims. Jack Coyne (13) came 6th in 50m Breaststroke, 6th in 100m Individual Medley, 6th in 50m Butterfly, 8th in 200m Freestyle, 6th in 50m Freestyle and 8th in 50m Backstroke. He also set new personal best times for all but the 50m Backstroke.
14th Colne lose at home to Ramsbottom in latest fixture in the Friendly League. The contest throughout the night was close as both teams traded wins, but it was the visitors that won by 59 points to 57. Despite this there were 23 new personal bests for the Colne boys and 11 for the girls.
18th British Masters Championships at Tollcross Leisure Centre, Glasgow. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 1500m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 4th in 400m Individual Medley.
19th British Masters Championships at Tollcross Leisure Centre, Glasgow. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 800m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) finishes 3rd in 100m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 5th in 200m Freestyle, 6th in 100m Freestyle setting as new personal best and 7th in 200m Individual Medley.
19th/20th Harrogate B Graded Meet. Morgan Hartley (13) finishes 2nd in 50m Breaststroke, 3rd in 50m Butterfly and 100m Breaststroke, 4th in 200m Breaststroke, 11 in 100m Individual Medley and 12th in 200m Freestyle setting a new personal best in the process.
20th British Masters Championships at Tollcross Leisure Centre, Glasgow. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 400m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 50m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 2nd in 400m Freestyle setting a new personal best and is 7th in 50m Freestyle.
28th Colne lose at home to Burnley in the Friendly League. Burnley were too strong for the Colne team and won by 68 points to 52.

1st Borther and Sister Gregan and Alex Baker are the most improved swimmers from January as they have both improved by 15 percent.
3rd At the Micro League Fixture at Crosby in Liverpool ended with disappointment for a weakened Colne team. The hosts Garston won with 169 points with Blackpool Aquatics 'C' 2nd on 134 points, Leyland 'B' 3rd on 110 points with Colne on 60 points.
3rd The North West Region Masters Championships were held at the Palatine Pool, Blackpool. The four Colne swimmers set 6 new North West Region Championship Records. Karen Driver (35-39) won 400m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke (a new record), 200m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke. She is 2nd in 100m Freestyle and 50m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) wins 100m Individual Medley, 200m Individual Medley (a new record) and 200m Backstroke (a new record and personal best). He is 2nd in 50m Breaststroke, 100m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 50m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle (a new record). Tony Catterall (60-64) wins 200m Butterfly (a new record), 200m Backstroke (a new record). He is 2nd in 400m Freestyle, 200m Individual Medley and 200m Breaststroke, and is 3rd in 200m Freestyle.
10th/11th City of Leeds 'B' Grade Meet 2010 held in the Aquatics Centre (50m). Nicole Baxter (10) finished 2nd in the 50m Backstroke, 7th in the 50m Breaststroke, 11th in the 200m Individual Medley, 11th in the 50m Butterfly, 11th in the 200m Freestyle and 14th in the 200m Backstroke setting new personal best times for all her events.
11th North West Regional Disability Swimming Championships 2010 held at the Liverpool Aquatic Centre. Katie Rilett-Young (11) finished 4th in the 50m Breaststroke and 4th in the 50m Freestyle, both in personal best times. Nathanial Lowe-Cordingly (13) finished 12th in the 50m Freestyle.
31st World Masters Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 7th in the 800m Freestyle in a new personal best time of 10 minutes 10.79 seconds.

August 2010

1st World Masters Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. Stephen Smith (40-44) finishes 13th in the 100m Freestyle in a time of 57.43 seconds.
2nd World Masters Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 12th in the 400m Individual Medley in a new personal best time of 5 minutes 59.45 seconds. It was the first time she had swum under 6 minutes.
3rd World Masters Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. Stephen Smith (40-44) finishes 11th in 50m Freestyle in a time of 25.89 seconds missing out on a top ten finish by 0.02 seconds. He also finishes 22nd in 200m Individual Medley in a lifetime best time of 2 minutes 36.95 seconds.
6th Club Coach Andrew Croxall has been nominated for Coach of the Year at the forthcoming Pendle Sports Awards on 4th September,
6th World Masters Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 9th in the 400m Freestyle in a time of 5 minutes 1. seconds.
7th World Masters Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 16th in 3km Open Water swim in a time of 42 minutes 21.4 seconds, taking 2 minutes off her personal best.

September 2010

2nd Swimming Club cancelled due to essential maintenance work being carried out on the large pool at the Pendle Leisure Centre.
4th Pendle Sports Awards held at the ACE Centre in Nelson. Club Coach Andrew Croxall is voted into third place in the Coach of the Year behind Len Woffindon (Cycling) and winner David Parker (Athletics).
6th The large pool at the Pendle Leisure Centre will be again closed for the entire week.
9th We have now been informed that the pool will be re-opened on Tuesday, 14th September, therefore the Club will resume sessions on Thursday, 16th September.
9th The Annual General Meeting has been called for Wednesday, 6th October at the Colne Cricket Club.
10th Colne forfeit the points against Pioneer'79 in the Friendly League due to being unable to raise a team. The cause was down to the closure of the Pendle Leisure Centre's large pool and as a result we had no swimming club.
13th Pendle Leisure Centre pool re-opens on the Monday afternoon.
16th The Club resumes after the closure of the pool due to essential maintenance.
18th The ASANER Masters Championships were held at the Freemans Quay Leisure Centre in Durham. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 400m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, 200m Individual Medley, 200m Freestyle and 200m Breaststroke, finishes 2nd in 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly. Philip Croxall (40-44) wins 400m Freestyle and 100m Individual Medley, finishes 2nd in 50m Breaststroke, 200m Individual Medley and 200m Freestyle, 3rd in 100m Breaststroke and 4th in 50m Butterfly. Tony Catterall (60+) finishes 2nd in 400m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, 200m Backstroke, 200m Individual Medley, 100m Backstroke, 200m Butterfly, 200m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke and 100m Individual Medley, 3rd in 50m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke, 4th in 100m Freestyle, 5th in 50m Butterfly and 6th in 50m Breaststroke.
30th In our last home Friendly League fixture of the season we lost by 66 points to 49 against a strong Pioneer'79 team. During the course of the night the Colne boys set 17 new personal bests and the girls set 16.

2nd North Lancs Level 3 Meet Day One. Dominic Hartley (11) wins 50m Backstroke. Gregan Baker (10) wins 50m Freestyle. Abbie Hampshire (10) finishes 2nd in 50m Breaststroke. Morgan Hartley (14+) finishes 3rd in 100m Butterfly. There also 28 new personal bests set amongst the 15 swimmers and Abbie Hampshire also got speeding tickets for 200m Breaststroke and 100m Individual Medley.
3rd North Lancs Level 3 Meet Day Two. Dominic Hartley (11) finishes 2nd in 50m Butterfly. There were 21 personal bests set amongst the 15 swimmers and Abbie Hampshire (10) picked up 3 more speeding tickets in the 200m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle and 200m Freestyle.
29th ASA Masters and Senior Age Group Championships (25m) Day One. John Penswick (70-74) finishes 3rd in 1500m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke. Stephen Smith (40-44) finishes 3rd in 100m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 9th in 100m Freestyle.
30th ASA Masters and Senior Age Group Championships (25m) Day Two. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 3rd in 200m Individual Medley and 400m Freestyle both in personal best times, and also finishes 8th in 100m Breaststroke. Stephen Smith (40-44) finishes 2nd in 50m Freestyle and 9th in 400m Freestyle. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 4th in 400m Freestyle.
31st ASA Masters and Senior Age Group Championships (25m) Day Three. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 3rd in 800m Freestyle in a new personal best time. Stephen Smith (40-44) finishes 3rd in 100m Backstroke, 4th in 100m Individual Medley and 5th in 50m Butterfly. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 6th in 100m Individual Medley in a new personal best time and 8th in 200m Breaststroke.

12th Friendly League Swim-Off held at Pendle Leisure Centre. Great Harwood edged out Colne to win the Swim-Off with 102 points. Colne finished with 86 points with Accrington trailing in 3rd place with 49 points. This means that Great Harwood were promoted to Division One with Colne retaining their place in Division One. Accrington will remain in Division Two and are joined by Ramsbottom who unfortunately were unable to send a team due to other commitments.
15th The first Championship Gala produced no new records and the race wins were shared amongst several swimmers. Laura Foulkes (16+) came within 0.09 of a second to the 50m Freestyle record. The most wins on the night with 3 a piece were Laura Foulkes and Abbie Hampshire. The following swimmers had 2 wins each and they were Alex Berry, Ashleigh Dibb, Morgan Hartley, Gregan Baker and Jack Coyne
18th The second Championship Gala produced no new records and the race wins were shared amongst serveral swimmers. Danielle Baxter (8+u) came within 0.03 of a second to the 25m Breaststroke record. The most wins on the night with 3 a piece were Laura Foulkes and Alex Berry. The following swimmers had 2 wins each and they were Gregan Baker, Morgan Hartley, Danielle Baxter and Jacob Taylforth. The Spot-On Compettion winner will be announced at the Annual Presentation on Friday, 10th December.
20th Karen Driver, Philip Croxall and Tony Catterall help Lanacshire to third place against Cumbria, Northunmber & Durham, Cheshire and Yorkshire at the Inter-County Masters held at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds.
20th There were 6 boys and 6 girls contesting the Betty Petty Style Trophy and they will have to wait until the Presentation on Friday, 10th December before finding out who wins.

2nd There were 4 records broken and one equalled at the gala last night. Nicole Baxter (11) set a new mark for the butterfly, Ashleigh Dibb (12) broke the backstroke and equalled the butterfly records, and Katie Farrar (13) set new marks for the Breaststroke and Butterfly. In the new Parents and Teachers category Lucy Cowgill and Andrew Croxall established the new records for all the strokes.
10th At the Annual Presentation, the Two Alberts Trophy was presented to Tony Brooks, with Abbie Hampshire receiving the Bramhill Memorial Trophy and Jac Smith-Shelley the John Dobbin Trophy. The Betty Petty Style Trophy winners were Isaac Rowan and Ashleigh Dibb. The Spot-On winner was Joel Punchard
