22nd Internal Age Group held to determine who are the best swimmers to represent the Micro League and Friendly League teams. The most improved swimmers since July 2008 will be presented with their trophies on Monday, 26th January
24th At North Lancs Age Groups. Ashleigh Dibb (10) finishes 2nd in 100m Individual Medley.
25th At North Lancs Age Groups. Samantha Titterton (10) finishes 2nd in 50m Breaststroke and 200m Breaststroke.
26th Most Improved Swimmers since July 2008 are Charles Nolan and Lauren Pratt. Charles improved by a massive 24.28% and Lauren by an impressive 15.53%. Lauren was presented with her trophy by Club Chairman Martin Jackson.
31st At North Lancs Age Groups. Ashleigh Dibb (10) finishes 2nd in 50m Butterfly.

8th At Rotherham Metro Masters Meet. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 400m Freestyle and is 2nd in 100m and 200m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 2nd in 400m Individual Medley, 100m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke and 200m Freestyle and is 3rd in 50m Backstroke and 200m Breaststroke.

March 2009

Date Event
7th Colne travelled to the West View Pool in Preston for the first Micro League fixture of the season. Swimming against teams from Carnforth, Preston and Newton Hall. The young swimmers of Colne started the season well winning 12 of the 32 individual races with 26 of them in new personal best times. They also won 6 of the 17 relay events including the big 8 x 25m Mixed Cannon Freestyle Relay. This ensured that Colne finished on top with 138 points with Newton Hall 2nd on 123, Preston 3rd with 121 and Carnforth 4th with 97 points.
14th Dubai Charter governing permitted swimwear is published with immediate effect.
14th Lancashire County Championships & Age Groups at Manchesters Aquatics Centre. Morgan Hartley competing in the 12yr Age Group achieved a 14th place in the 100m Breaststroke in a personal best time. Emily Cott competing in the 15yr Age Group achieved a 11th place in the 100m Freestyle. Joshua Finch competing in the Open Age Group qualified 6th fastest for the 100m Butterfly, in a North West Region qualifying time but had to withdraw from the final and a 34th place in the 200m Freestyle.
15th Lancashire County Championships & Age Groups at Manchesters Aquatics Centre. Ashleigh Dibb competing in the 10yr Age Group achieved a 3rd place in the 50m Backstroke, a 4th place in the 50m Butterfly, and a 7th place in the 200m Individual Medley, all in personal best times with the latter in a North West Region qualifying time. Samantha Titterton competing in the 10yr Age Group achieved a 12th place in the 200m Breaststroke, in a North West qualifying time, and 15th place in the 50m Backstroke, both in personal best times.
21st Lancashire County Championships & Age Groups at Manchesters Aquatics Centre. Ashleigh Dibb competing in the 10yr Age Group achieved a 7th place in the 200m Backstroke and a 10th place in the 50m Freestyle, all in personal best times with the 200m events in a North West Region Age Group qualifying times. Samantha Titterton competing in the 10yr Age Group achieved a 19th place in the 200m Backstroke and a 31st place in the 50m Freestyle, all in personal best times.
22nd Lancashire County Championships & Age Groups at Manchesters Aquatics Centre. Ashleigh Dibb competing in the 10yr Age Group achieved an 8th place in the 200m Freestyle in a personal best times and a North West Region Age Group qualifying time. Samantha Titterton competing in the 10yr Age Group achieved a 8th place in the 50m Breaststroke in personal best times. Morgan Hartley competing in the 12yr Age Group achieved a 15th place in the 50m Breaststroke, a 27th place in the 50m Freestyle and was disqualified in the 200m Individual Medley due to an incorrect stroke, with all swims in personal best times.
26th In the first Friendly League Fixture of the Season, Colne narrowly lost to Burnley by 61 points to 57. In what proved to be an exciting contest, either team could have won it with two races to go, but it was Burnley who edged us out. Despite this there were 25 new personal bests amongst the girls and 27 amongst the boys.
29th Three of the Masters team travelled to Darlington to compete in the Darlington Dolphin Masters. Karen Driver (35-39) won the 100m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, 200m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke and finished 2nd in 50m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) won the 50m Freestyle and was 2nd in 100m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) was 2nd in 200m Freestyle and 3rd in 50m Breaststroke and 100m Breaststroke.
29th Colne travelled to the West View Pool in Preston for the Micro League fixture of the season. Swimming against teams from Clitheroe, Preston and Kirkham. The young swimmers of Colne continued their winning start to the season as we finished on top with 155 points with Preston 2nd on 147, Kirkham 3rd with 104 and Clitheroe 4th with 79 points. During the course of the gala there were 9 new personal bests set, 3 by the boys and 6 by the girls.

2nd We were the hosts to Haslingden in our most recent fixture of the Friendly League. The first half the gala was quite even as both clubs traded wins, but it was in the second half of the gala when we showed our strength by winning two thirds of the remaining races. This meant that we won by 64 points to 54. During the course of the night the Colne boys set 19 new personal bests and the girls set 10.
18th On Saturday, 18th April, 12 members of Colne ASC travelled to the Manchester Aquatics Centre to take part in the Central Lancashire Long Course Championships. There were two 1st places, two 3rd places and 24 new personal times achieved by the swimmers. The star performer was Ashleigh Dibb (10 years) who finished 1st in the 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly, the latter in a personal best time. She also finished 3rd in 50m Freestyle also in a Personal Best Time. She also set a new personal best for the 200m Individual Medley. Morgan Hartley (12) finished 3rd in 50m Breaststroke in a personal best time, and 8th in 50m Freestyle.
23rd The Friendly League Fixture between Colne and Pioneer does not take place due to a mix up in the dates.
23rd Ashleigh Dibb (10) and Morgan Hartley (12) have been selected to represent North Lancs at the forthcoming Inter-Association gala on the 23rd and 24th May. Ashleigh has been selected for the 50m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly. Morgan has been named as the Reserve for the 100m Breaststroke.
24th Scottish National Masters Championships at Scotstoun Leisure Centre, Glasgow. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 800m Freestyle and is 2nd in 100m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) is 2nd in 100m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) is 3rd in 400m Individual Medley and 4th in 100m Breaststroke.
25th Scottish National Masters Championships at Scotstoun Leisure Centre, Glasgow. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 200m and 400m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 50m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) is 3rd in 200m Individual Medley, 4th in 50m and 200m Breaststroke, and 5th in 50m Freestyle.

7th Samantha Titterton (10) has been selected to represent North Lancs at the forthcoming Inter-Association gala on the 23rd and 24th May. She has been selected to swim 400m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke and 200m Breaststroke, along with being named as the reserve for 50m Butterfly.
16th Carlisle Masters 2009. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 50m Backstroke, 200m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke she is 2nd in 50m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 100m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke. Philip Croxall (40-44) wins 100m and 200m Breaststroke and 200m Individual Medley, he also second in 200m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke. Steve Craig (55-59) finishes 2nd in 100m Freestyle and 200m Freestyle, and is 3rd in 50m Breaststroke.
18th Colne travelled to Haslingden for our first away fixture in the Friendly League. Despite a close contest, we narrowly lost out by 58 points to 61.
23rd/24th At the Inter-Association Gala held at Broughton Pool, Salford. Ashleigh Dibb (10) had five swims over the weekend where she finished 2nd in 50m Backstroke, 4th in 50m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle and 200m Backstroke, and was 7th in 200m Freestyle. Samantha Titterton (10) had 3 swims and finished 8th in 50m Breaststroke, 9th in 200m Breaststroke and 10th in 400m Freestyle. The two girls helped the North Lancs team to finish 4th behind winners Liverpool & District. Unfortunately for Morgan Hartley (12) he was only named as reserve for the 100m Breaststroke, and was not required to swim.
30th At Gateshead & Whickham Open Masters 2009. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 50m and 100m Breaststroke, 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) wins 100m Individual Medley, 100m Backstroke, 200m Breaststroke and 100m Butterfly, and is 2nd in 50m and 100m Breaststroke. Steve Craig (55-59) wins 100m Individual Medley, 50m and 100m Freestyle, and is 2nd in 50m Breaststroke. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 50m and 100m Freestyle.

15th Molly Chapman was presented with her Trophy for the Most Improved Girl since January by Club Chairman Martin Jackson.
19th At the British Masters Championships at the Cardiff International Pool. Karen Driver (35-39) wins the 1500m Freestyle in personal best of 19min 34.38s. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 4th in 200m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke narrowly missing his personal bests by 0.5 seconds in both events.
20th At the British Masters Championships at the Cardiff International Pool. Karen Driver (35-39) wins the 800m Freestyle in 10min 17.41s and is 2nd in 400m Freestyle in 5min 1.23s, both of which were personal bests. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins 50m Freestyle in 25.72 seconds, his best time for 20 years! Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 3rd in 400m Freestyle in 5min 2.56s, and is 7th in 200m Individual Medley in 2min 37.87, only 0.8s outside his personal best.
21st At the British Masters Championships at the Cardiff International Pool. Stephen Smith (40-44) wins the 100m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 5th in 100m and 200m Breaststroke, with the former with 0.3 seconds of his personal best. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 6th in 100m Freestyle in a personal best time of 1min 9.78s.
22nd Colne travelled to Ramsbottom in the Friendly League and lost by 48 points to 72. Desipte the defeat there were quite a few personal bests by the Colne swimmers.
28th Colne hosted Newton Hall, Leyland and Carnforth in the Micro League. Colne won by 6 points from Newton Hall in a thrilling contest, with 8 pbs from the Colne girls and 3 from the boys. Colne won with 142 points from Newton Hall on 136, with Leyland on 114 and Carnforth on 85 points.

July 2009

2nd Colne were hosts to Pioneer '79 in the Friendly League. Despite the Colne swimmers setting 43 personal bests (Girls 22, Boys 21) they could not keep pace with Pioneer who ran out winners 65 points to 51.
4th Only two members of the Colne ASC Masters Team travelled to the Palatine Pool, Blackpool for the North West Region Masters Championships. Karen Driver (35-39) winning 100m Breaststroke and 200m Freestyle, 2nd in 50m Breaststroke, 3rd in 100m Freestyle and 4th in 50m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) finished 2nd in 100m Breaststroke, 3rd in 200m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke, 4th in 50m and 100m Freestyle and 5th in 100m Individual Medley, with the 200m Freestyle establishing a new personal best.
4th Colne travelled to the Ribblesdale Pool, Clitheroe for their final Micro League fixture. It proved to be a close contest between Preston and Colne for the win, with Preston managing to edge out Colne by 152 points to 151. Carnforth finished in 3rd place with 91 points and the hosts Clitheror finishing with 55 points.
23rd The Club has been nominated for the Community Club of the Year at the forth-coming Pendle Sports Awards. Club Coach Andrew Croxall has also been nominated in the Coach of the Year category.
29th At British Gas National Youth Championships incorporating British Gas National Champoinships. William Harrison (20) swimming for Bournemouth finishes 9th in the heats of the 50m Butterfly with a time of 25.49. This qualified him for the final where he finished 7th in a time of 25.23 which left him 4th overall nationally.

August 2009

1st At British Gas National Youth Championships incorporating British Gas National Champoinships. William Harrison (20) swimming for Bournemouth finishes 10th equal in the heats of the 50m Freestyle with a time of 23.50. This qualified him for the final where he finished 7th in a time of 23.44 which left him 3rd overall nationally.

5th At the 2nd Halton Masters Open Sprint Meet. Karen Driver (35-39) 1st in 400m Freestyle and 2nd in 100m Freestyle. Stephen Smith (40-44) 1st in 50m Freestyle and 2nd in 100m Freestyle. Philip Croxall (40-44) 2nd in both the 100m and 200m Individual Medley events, both in new personal best times. Laura Foulkes (18-24) 2nd in 100m Freestyle, 3rd in 50m Freestyle, 4th in 50m Butterfly and 5th in 100m Individual Medley. John Penswick (70-74) 1st in 50m Backstroke, 2nd in 50m Freestyle, 2nd in 100m Backstroke, 2nd in 50m Breaststroke and 3rd in 100m Breaststroke.
5th The Pendle Sports Awards were held at the new ACE Centre in Nelson. Stanley Hendley received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his 75 years of involvement with the Club. The Club finished 3rd in the Community Club of the Year, and Andrew Croxall was the runner-up in the Coach of the Year award.
15th XII LEN European Masters Championships, Cádiz. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 4th out of 22 in 400m Freestyle with a time of 10:14.87 missing 3rd by 0.66 of a second. Her time was a new personal best, which did nothing to ease the disappointment of missing the bronze medal. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 22nd out of 44 in 200m Individual Medley in a new personal best time of 2:36.49 taking 0.7 seconds off the time he set in 2004!
17th XII LEN European Masters Championships, Cádiz. Philip Croxall (40-44) finished 28th out of 47 in 100m Breaststroke in 1:20.28. He suffered at the end as he had done the first length too fast. The last 10m were agony.
17th Colne lose at home to Ramsbottom by 65 points to 52. There were 17 personal bests by the girls and 16 by the boys.
18th XII LEN European Masters Championships, Cádiz. Karen Driver (35-39) finished 3rd out of 31 in the 400m Freestyle to claim the bronze medal, setting a new personal best time of 4:59.98 in the process. Stephen Smith (40-44) did 57.67 for 100m Freestyle and was 18th out of 105. He was disappointed with his swim.
19th XII LEN European Masters Championships, Cádiz. Stephen Smith (40-44) swam a masters best of 25.58 in 50m Freestyle. It was his best time since the Commonwealth Games Trials 20 years ago. He finished 11th out of 87. Philip Croxall (40-44) finished 14th out of 30 in 200m Breaststroke with a time of 2:55.39.
19th At the Micro League swim-offs at West View, Preston. Colne finish 4th with 100 points. Garstang finished 1st with 142 points, Preston 2nd with 122 points and Clitheroe 'A' 3rd on 117 points. There were 6 personal bests by the girls and 3 by the boys. This result means Garstang and Preston are promoted whilst Colne remain in Division 'C' for next season.
20th XII LEN European Masters Championships, Cádiz. Karen Driver (35-39) took part in the gruelling 3km open water swim. Due to tidal conditions the course was reduced from 5km to 3km, much to Karen's relief. In glorious sunshine, she swam the course in a time of 44 minutes 38 seconds to finish in a highly creditable position of 13th out of 33. It was over 3 minutes faster than what she had done before.
25th In the latest Friendly League fixture we lose to Pioneer'79 by 70 points to 50. There were 5 new personal bests set by the girls and 7 by the boys.

5th In the final Friendly League fixture of the season we travelled to Padiham to take on Burnley. Competing with a weakened team, we lost by 66 points to 54. There were only 6 new personal bests set, 4 amongst the girls and 2 to the boys.
10th North Lancs Level 3 Meet 2009 at Palatine Pool, Blackpool. Samantha Titterton (10) wins 100m Individual Medley and is 3rd in 50m Butterfly. Abbie Hampshire (9) is 3rd in 100m Individual Medley. Morgan Hartley (13) is 3rd in 100m Butterfly.
11th North Lancs Level 3 Meet 2009 at Palatine Pool, Blackpool. Abbie Hampshire (9) wins 200m Freestyle, 2nd in 200m Backstroke and 3rd in 50m Backstroke. Samantha Titterton (10) 2nd in Backstroke and 3rd in 200m Freestyle. Kattie Farrar (12) is 3rd in 50m Breaststoke.
15th 39 people take part in the Clubs Sponsored Swim. 40% of the proceeds will be going to Derian House, Childrens Hospice.
23rd ASA National Masters. Karen Driver (35-39) wins 1500m Freestyle by 2 seconds. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 7th in 100m Individual Medley, setting a new personal best of 1 min 9.61 seconds in the process. He also finishes 10th in 100m Breaststroke.
24th ASA National Masters. Philip Croxall (40-44) finishes 3rd in 400m Freestyle setting a new personal best by 3 seconds of 4 min 42.46 seconds, 3rd in 200m Individual Medley, equalling his personal best of 2 months with a time of 2 min 32.50 seconds, and is also 3rd in 200m Freestyle, missing his personal best by 0.07 of a second to record a time of 2 min 13.49 seconds. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes a disappointing 5th place in 400m Freestyle.
25th ASA National Masters. Karen Driver (35-39) finishes 3rd in 800m Freestyle. Stephen Smith and Philip Croxall (40-44) set new personal bests in 50m Freestyle, with Stephen finishing 2nd by 0.03 of second with a time of 24.72 seconds and Philip finishing 12th in a time of 27.00 seconds. In 100m Freestyle, Stephen won by 0.06 of a second with 54.90 seconds with Philip in 8th setting a new personal best time of 59.09 seconds.

6th The inaugural Talent Show was held at the Colne Cricket Club. Only 9 acts performed for what was an enjoyable evening for all those who attended.
12th Gala No. 1 of this years Championship Gala produced no new records for the first time since the Club moved their current home back in 1991. Despite this there was a lot of close races for the trophies on offer.
14th Betty Petty Style Trophy. There was 6 girls and 5 boys competing this year. The winners will be announced in Friday, 11th December at the Annual Presentation.
19th Gala No. 2 of this years Championships Gala yet again produced no new records. The competition was as close as ever as fractions of seconds separated the winners.
20th Friendly League Swim-Off. This years swim-off took place at Pendle Leisure Centre between Colne, Haslingden, Great Harwood and Accrington. Throughout the night Accrington struggled to match the other three teams and finished 4th on 62 points. The other three teams traded wins throughout the night with Colne eventually finishing first on 114 points with Haslingden in 2nd on 113 points and Great Harwood 3rd on 109 points.

3rd Christmas Sprint Gala. There were 76 entries for this years sprint gala with 40 boys and 36 girls participating. During the course of the night 15 new records were set with 11 of them by the girls and only 4 by the boys.
11th At Annual Presentation. Mrs J. Croxall was presented the Two Alberts Trophy. The John Dobbin Trophy was presented to Danielle Baxter. The Bramhill Memorial Trophy was presented to Linda Kettlewell at the pool as it was the last Adult Learners session. The Betty Petty Petty Trophies were won by Chris Bates and Abbie Hampshire.
11th At Annual Presentation a Mr Ian Minto from Derian House Childrens Hospice was presented with a cheque for £500, this was a result of our sponsored swim in October.
